According to Rappaport, all you have to do is type "@" followed by a username, and an option to tag that individual will pop up within the photo.
Tagging your friend will create a swipe-up menu showing the user's name, handle, Bitmoji, and an option to add them as a friend. The feature could theoretically be a fun way to advertise your favorite accounts by making it easy for people to follow.
If you're tagged, you will get a notification. Here's an example sent to us from a Snapchat beta user, who shared the image on the condition of anonymity:
So if you suddenly get dozens of friend requests without warning, perhaps a friend has gotten tag-happy. For now, it's only a test among a small batch of users, but we can't help but imagine all the possibilities.
Correction - March 8, 2018, 4:06 p.m. EST: An earlier version of this article said users do not receive a notification if they are tagged, as reported by TechCrunch. We have since learned that users do receive a notification and have updated the story with an image of the notification.
